Governance

The Governance Committee—Anne-Marie Lubenau ‘12, Andrea Reimer ’19, Josephine Ramirez ‘03, Pallavi Mande ’17, Deborah Goddard ‘03, Charles McKinney ’94, Kathy Fox ’02, Jim Stockard ’78, and Ed McNamara ’95 —has taken a comprehensive look at the Alumni Association and the Alumni Council to help clarify our expectations for what the organization can and should do for us. The group conducted a survey of alumni, which informed its recommendations for Council rules, roles and make-up.

At the May LAC meeting, the Committee put forth a proposed framework and principles for representation, which was approved by the Alumni Council on May 9 along with permission to further develop the recommendations and draft necessary bylaws changes.

The Committee created a Diversity Task Force chaired by Josephine Ramirez ‘03, with members Jamie Blosser ‘15, Roger Cummings ‘09. Reese Fayde ‘79, India Lee ‘09, and Steven Lewis ‘07. During the summer and fall the DTC developed a set of diversity values and developed a set of recommendations to achieve greater diversity and inclusion on the Council, which the LAC approved at its October meeting.

In October the LAC also approved principle elements for proposed by-law amendments and a transition plan for the implementation of a new governance structure. All of the Committee’s recommendations and presentations to the Council can be found below, with the most recent first.
