Congratulations to José, who was recently elected to his 4th term as mayor of Diadema, Brazil. His 3rd term was completed 12 years ago before moving to Cambridge for his Fellowship year. Upon his return to Brazil, José was elected to Brazil’s National Congress. He stepped away from politics for a few years, but watching his country slide into despair under the current regime, motivated him to attempt a repair at the local level. Restoring good government to his “lovely City Hall” will be “one of my greatest challenges” he wrote in a recent email. His team is strong and his hopes are high, though.
