The New York Architectural League will bestow its highest honor—-the President’s Medal—to Andrew on June 1. In its announcement. The League will celebrate Andrew and Rural Studio for “having developed an influential model of architectural pedagogy that emphasizes design education through making, the generative role of material constraints, and the discipline of achieving design quality while hewing to stringent budgets. Rural Studio’s work and research encompasses building, natural, and economic systems, and a deep engagement with local communities to discern “what should be built, rather than what can be built.”
The event is free and open to all so you can watch commentaries and tributes to Andrew, by Marlon Blackwell, Billie Tsien, Paul Lewis, Rosalie Genevro, and many others.
